Senator Shehu Buba, representing Bauchi South, has launched a major food distribution initiative to support residents. The lawmaker distributed over 21,000 bags of semovita across all 20 local government areas in Bauchi State. This large-scale effort aims to cushion the effects of the current economic hardship for vulnerable families.

Speaking during the distribution on Monday, Senator Buba assured Nigerians that the tough economic situation will soon ease. He stated that the Federal Government is already recording positive results in its efforts to stabilize the economy. The senator pointed to the government’s success in stabilizing the naira’s exchange rate. He noted this improvement has positively impacted import and export activities.
Buba explained that his consistent distribution of palliatives is a key part of his support strategy. He has undertaken such interventions several times in the past for his constituents and other residents. The senator also made a political call, urging Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi Central to join the All Progressives Congress (APC). He believes such a move would help move the state and country forward.
As detailed in the complete version, there are several key factors to consider.
Distribution Plan and Broader Support
The logistics for the massive distribution were detailed by the committee chairman, Abdulkadir Gyangyan. He explained that 1,000 bags of semovita would go to each of the seven LGAs in Buba’s constituency. These include Bauchi, Dass, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro, Toro, Alkaleri, and Kirfi. The remaining 13 LGAs in the state will each receive 500 bags. The rest of the palliatives are allocated for party officials and various political organizations.
Aminu Danmaliki, an APC stalwart, commended Senator Buba’s leadership. He highlighted the senator’s other empowerment programs, including scholarships. Buba sponsors 500 students studying sciences at Malikiyya College and others both within and outside Nigeria. The senator, who chairs the Senate Committee on Security and Intelligence, also appreciated the peaceful conduct of his constituents. He emphasized that without peace, meaningful development is impossible and called for continued support for all levels of government.
