Over the past six months, the NSRI has been trialing new satellite systems. These devices connect directly to satellites, bypassing the need for terrestrial towers. The initial results are promising. Crews report maintaining steady contact with their base in zones where signals previously dropped. This allows for real-time updates and more coordinated rescue efforts between the boats and shore command.
Improved Safety with Satellite Comms
