Police Arrest Alleged Receiver of Vandalised Railway Materials

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) Police Command has apprehended a 32-year-old man identified as a major kingpin and receiver of vandalised railway materials in Kaduna. NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Friday from Lagos.

This development signifies a critical victory in the NRC’s ongoing campaign against vandalism. In a coordinated operation, authorities also intercepted a trailer loaded with vital railway components in Plateau State.

Breakthrough in Kaduna Operation

The suspect was arrested in the Rigasa area after intelligence reports pointed to vandalised electrical installations along the Mando-Rigasa corridor. According to Dr. Opeifa, the individual confessed to purchasing stolen NRC electrical cables for ₦90,000 from vandals. This arrest is a direct result of the corporation’s intensified efforts to combat the theft of critical infrastructure.

In a separate incident in Plateau, police operatives from the Railway Command intercepted a trailer carrying large quantities of railway materials along the KM 822–823 Forom axis. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene. The truck was subsequently towed to the Jos Railway Police Station.
