Free State, South Africa (28 October 2025) – The bond between a person and their pet is a powerful force. For a man named Sello, that bond meant carrying his injured dog, Option, for 15 kilometers under the South African sun. His sole mission was to find help after a speeding car struck his loyal companion.
A Desperate Search for Help
The accident occurred while Sello was cleaning his yard. He immediately contacted every animal shelter he could find, but initial efforts proved futile. With his funds nearly exhausted, Sello spent his last money on airtime for one more call. That final attempt reached the Virginia SPCA in the Free State. The organization agreed to help on one condition: Sello had to get Option to them. Without hesitation, Sello began his long walk, cradling his injured dog the entire way to a meeting point outside Odendaalsrus. The Virginia SPCA later shared a photo of the pair, stating, “Carrying nothing but love and hope for his dog. This is what true devotion looks like.”
A Community Call to Action
Option is now receiving urgent medical care from the Virginia SPCA. The organization is committed to doing everything possible to heal the dog and reunite him with his devoted owner. However, they have publicly stated they cannot do it alone. A call for donations has been issued to support Option’s medical treatment and recovery. The community is being asked to help a man who demonstrated profound love for his pet. Sello’s act of devotion, walking 15 kilometers with his injured dog, showcases the incredible lengths to which a person will go for their animal companion. This rescue story highlights the critical role community support plays in such situations.
