Fubara’s Daughter as Deputy Gov Shames Community School

Deputy Governor Professor Ngozi Odu has expressed deep gratitude to Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for his intervention at a dilapidated secondary school in her community. The school, which serves as the oldest in the area, had fallen into severe disrepair, becoming a source of personal pain for the deputy governor.

A Legacy of Neglect

Professor Odu revealed the school had not seen any renovation in over twenty years. The last significant work occurred during the administration of former Governor Sir Dr. Peter Odili, a period when she served as the Honourable Commissioner for Education. Since that time, the infrastructure had drastically deteriorated. Classrooms were in terrible shape, and during rainfall, principals were forced to abandon their offices due to severe leaking. The poor condition of the school led to public mockery against the deputy governor, with critics on social media questioning her influence despite her high office.

A Divine Answer to Patience

The deputy governor confessed the criticism pained her deeply, but she chose not to nag the governor. Instead, she placed her faith in divine intervention, believing God would eventually direct Governor Fubara to the site. She described the governor’s inspection visit and subsequent promise to restore the facility as a divine answer to her patience and prayers. Professor Odu emotionally commended the governor, stating that his actions would finally bless her people and erase the shame associated with the school’s condition. She also acknowledged the past contributions of former Governor Odili and the FCT Minister, Chief Nyesom Wike, to the state’s development. The deputy governor pledged to continue working in harmony with Governor Fubara to advance Rivers State, highlighting this collaborative effort as crucial for the state’s progress.
