Federal Government Urges ASUU to Call Off Strike, Says All Demands Met

The Federal Government has called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to immediately suspend its ongoing industrial action. Officials state they have addressed every union request, leaving no justification for the ASUU strike.

Education Minister Prof. Tahir Mamman made this appeal on Monday. He emphasized the government’s extensive negotiations with the union since the administration began.

Minister Mamman confirmed the government provided a formal counter-proposal. He expressed disappointment over the union’s decision to proceed with the ASUU strike despite these efforts.

ASUU Declares Two-Week Warning Strike

The appeal follows ASUU’s declaration of a comprehensive two-week warning strike. The union announced this action on Sunday during a press briefing in Abuja.
