Arrest and Confession
The operation took place on October 16, 2025, leading to the arrest of five individuals. The suspects are Aliyu Abbas, Sani Iliyasu, Ashiru Sule, Abubakar Yahaya, and Adamu Kalilu. These fake police officers were caught while actively parading themselves as legitimate law enforcement personnel.
As detailed in the complete version, there are several key factors to consider.
Investigators recovered several incriminating items from the group. The evidence includes a fake Police Warrant Card, a pair of handcuffs, and 2,500 CFA francs. Police also found mutilated Naira notes and their operational vehicle, a blue Peugeot 406 with registration number NSR-188-BD.
During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their crimes. They admitted to using the fake police warrant card to extort innocent citizens. Their criminal activities extended beyond Kano into neighboring Katsina and Kaduna States.
Charges and Official Warning
The Kano police have stated that the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The command is committed to ensuring the group faces the full weight of the law for their impersonation and extortion.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to public safety. He issued a strong warning, stating the police will not tolerate any form of criminal impersonation or illegal activities.
The command urges the public to remain vigilant. Citizens should report any suspicious activities or individuals claiming to be police officers to the nearest police station immediately. This arrest of the fake police officers highlights the ongoing efforts to protect the community from such predatory crimes. The crackdown on these fake police officers serves as a deterrent to other criminal elements.
