The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC) marks a major historical milestone this year. It opened to the public on October 4, 1929, providing access to one of Cape Town’s most famous landmarks. For nearly a century, this cableway has transported over 32 million visitors to the summit of the iconic Table Mountain.

This renowned attraction, also named one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature, is celebrating its 96th birthday. To honor the occasion, TMACC is offering a special gift to South African residents. This initiative allows locals to experience the mountain at a significant discount.

Local is Lekker Discount Launched

TMACC has introduced its “Local is Lekker” birthday special. This offer provides discounted return cableway tickets exclusively for South African citizens. The promotion is valid for travel now through October 31, 2025.

Under this special, adult tickets are priced at R250. Tickets for children aged four to 17 years old cost R100 each. Wahida Parker, Managing Director of TMACC, explained the offer is a way to share the iconic New 7 Wonders of Nature with all South Africans. She added it encourages locals to be tourists in their own city before the summer season begins.
