Bauchi State Police have arrested 30-year-old Mamuda Zakari Yau for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist. The suspect reportedly confessed that financial pressure to marry a third wife drove him to commit the crime.

The incident occurred on Thursday night near the old airport area of Bauchi metropolis. According to the Command’s Spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, the suspect lured the rider, 25-year-old Basiru Mohammed, under false pretenses.

During the encounter, Yau allegedly used a knife to fatally stab the victim. He then attempted to flee with the victim’s red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle. The victim managed to raise an alarm before succumbing to his injuries, prompting residents to give chase.

Swift Police Response and Arrest

Police operatives responded swiftly to the distress call. They evacuated Basiru Mohammed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital. Medical personnel pronounced him dead on arrival.
