38 AK-47s, Rocket Launchers Seized in Major Terrorist Takedown

Nigerian troops have dismantled multiple terrorist camps and recovered a significant arsenal of weapons in a series of coordinated operations across the North East and North West. The military’s renewed offensive led to the neutralization of several insurgents and marked a major success in the ongoing campaign against terrorism.

According to a statement from the Defence Headquarters, troops from Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Whirl Punch conducted separate offensives based on credible intelligence. These operations targeted terrorist hideouts and movement routes in Borno, Kaduna, and Zamfara States. Intense firefights resulted in the recovery of 38 AK-47 rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, machine guns, and large quantities of ammunition.

Major Arms Recovery and Rescues
Military spokesman Maj. Gen. Edward Buba confirmed that the operations also led to the rescue of kidnapped victims and the arrest of informants who supported the criminals with logistics and intelligence. The recovered items included magazines, communication gadgets, motorcycles, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) intended for attacks on civilians and security forces. This operation represents one of the most successful arms recoveries in recent months.

Our forces remain resolute in dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace in all affected areas, Buba stated. The military’s success signals improved intelligence coordination with local vigilantes. Several bandit leaders are now reportedly on the run as clearance operations intensify in forested zones.
